As an Ob/Gyn Medical Assistant you will be responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to ensure efficient operation of FOFHC's ObGyn Providers at the La Habra Clinic Location. This role focuses on assisting with examinations, procedures, patient flow, and clinical documentation in a fast-paced women’s health environment.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visits
- Obtain and document vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaints
- Review medical, surgical, obstetric, and medication histories
- Prepare patients for pelvic exams, prenatal visits, and procedures
- Assist providers during OB/GYN exams and procedures (e.g., Pap smears, biopsies, IUD insertions/removals)
- Perform point-of-care testing (urine pregnancy tests, urinalysis, etc.)
- Collect and label specimens accurately
- Administer medications and injections as directed and within scope
- Support prenatal and postpartum patient care workflows
- Document gravida/para status and pregnancy-related information
- Assist with fetal heart tone checks and basic prenatal screening support
- Provide patient education (prenatal care, medications, follow-up instructions)
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Clean and prepare exam rooms between patients
- Sterilize instruments and maintain clinical equipment
- Follow OSHA and infection control protocols at all times
- Maintain efficient patient flow and minimize wait times
- Communicate effectively with providers, front office staff, and patients
- Assist with stocking supplies and inventory management
- Other relevant duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or equivalent
- Bilingual English/Spanish Required
- Prior experience in OB/GYN or women’s health (at least 1 year required)
- Experience with EHR systems (EPIC OCHIN Preferred)
