Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing. It is a plus if you also have experience in pre-op and PACU.
We are seeking a nurse with at least 1 year of circulating experience in one of the following specialties. Within this role you will be offered the opportunity to cross train in all specialties that are offered at our facility.
Specialties performed at the surgery center include the following:
- GI
- Pain
- General
- Orthopedics
- Urology
- Gyn
- Podiatry
- Ophthalmology
This role will report to the Director of nursing and Charge RN. The role will work in collaboration with facility staff, nursing colleagues, scrub techs, and administrative staff as needed. Traveling to sister facilities may be required with compensation of mileage.
Duties
- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare for and assist during surgical procedures.
- Monitor patient vital signs and provide immediate post-operative care.
- Administer medications and IV infusions as prescribed while adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records throughout the surgical process.
- Conduct patient assessments pre-operatively to identify any potential risks or complications.
- Ensure all surgical instruments and equipment are sterile and functioning properly.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety standards.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with a strong understanding of nursing principles and practices.
- Experience in an operating room setting is highly preferred; familiarity with OR protocols is essential.
- Critical care experience is advantageous, particularly in Level I or II trauma centers.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
