Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history, and dental examinations
- Assist with chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Capture and review medical imaging, such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols are followed
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment plans tailored to pediatric dentistry needs
- Maintain accurate medical records and document all procedures in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Follow infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and HIPAA regulations to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff
Requirements
- Valid Dental Hygiene license with current state licensure in good standing
- Proven experience in dental office settings, including general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with medical coding is a plus
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology
- Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, documentation review, and patient care coordination
- Excellent communication skills to effectively educate patients of all ages about their oral health needs
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information
