Position: Medical Assistant (2 Positions Available)
Schedule:
Tuesday - Saturday (Day Shift) 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Tuesday - Saturday (Graveyard) 11:00 pm - 8:00 am
Program Summary: Under the supervision of the Program Manager, the Medical Assistant will coordinate the management of the disbursement of medication and other medical needs for the clients and staff. This position will also provide support to the physician by triage of patients and general assistance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Manage and administer medication to clients
- Communicate with pharmacists and prescribing doctors to ensure client medications are prescribed appropriately
- Support the Medical Director with the Wellness Clinic
- Meet with clients to review prescriptions.
- Facilitate prescription changes and refills as needed.
- Organize medications in weekly organizers for distribution by counselor on duty.
- Triage residents who want to see the doctor.
- Support to the doctor during his visits.
- Uphold and maintain rules for residents and staff.
- Must review and be familiar with the agency’s EOC (Environment of Care) plan.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with special populations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Valid California driver’s license and proof of insurability.
Must be able to pass the following pre-employment screenings:
- Background check, including criminal history (LA CADA considers all applicants equally and will take into account each applicant’s individual life circumstances).
- Drug and health screen, including negative TB test
- Employment and education verification
